Tru Talent Management

Tru Talent Has A Fun & Exciting Atmosphere

Doing my photo shoot at Tru Talent Management was so much fun and it was something I’ve never experienced before. I prepared by arranging different outfits to bring for the shoot so the stylist could tell me which one would go best with each picture. At first I was nervous because I didn’t know what to expect and how they were going to treat me. They all treated me really good and I had a lot of fun! The hospitality they offered me was very heartwarming and made me feel so comfortable!

Their stylist did my hair and makeup as if I were a celebrity. They put my clothes together and styled my outfits and made me look so gorgeous! Everyone that was watching or maybe walking by would stop and stare. For every picture I took they fixed my hair and makeup so every photo could turn out with a professional look and would look like I did several different days of photo shoots. My photo shoot was definitely an experience of a lifetime, and I’m just getting started! It was fun and exciting, and at the same time, I think it will really help my career out!

My Experience With Tru Talent Management

This is a guest post written by Brittany.

My experience with Tru Talent Management has been short but promising so far. I felt my son could succeed in the entertainment industry. After signing with an agent for lifetime photography I set up a photo shoot date for my son. I received a wonderful portfolio of great pictures taken. I have attended three auditions for my son since. Nobody has spotted my shining star yet, but he is still at a very young age and is not as capable of filling roles as someone able to read lines. All three of the auditions were with people that are in constant need of talent so they will always keep in mind the pictures of kids and the children they have met. So just remember that whatever bad experiences that someone may have had with Tru they just didn’t want it bad enough. Tru Talent will help you bring that shining star out of yourself; you just have to be willing to put forth some work too. You have to give a little to get a little. So if you feel that it’s not a good investment to make to better yourself or your children to provide stability for them or to make their dreams come true, then you don’t want it bad enough.

They have an awesome website with daily updates you on all of the events we have coming up including auditions, commercials, movies, videos, etc. Tru works with a lot of different people in the entertainment industry. Don’t get discouraged if you haven’t been booked for a job yet, it takes practice, determination, drive, motivation, patience, and heart. Of course there will be a lot of disappointments and let downs, but that is part of being in the entertainment industry. That’s why there are many different types of people for many different types of things in this business. So if you don’t fit a certain look when you go to the audition, that doesn’t mean you are not going to fit another look when you go on the next. When the casting directors come down to hold auditions they look for many different types of individuals for different types of roles. If you really want to be in this industry and you want it bad enough you are never going to give up on yourself. Keep trying and try to stay positive and focused and all your dreams will come true and Tru Talent can help you get to where you want to be, you just have to be willing to earn your way there!

Acting Is A Profession - You Need Some Talent

Acting is like any profession, without the right tools the job cannot be completed. A carpenter without a hammer, a lawyer without a legal team, and a mechanic without a calculator will not be able to perform the job requirements. Acting requires more sophisticated tools like pure emotion, amazing ability, and a passion to perform.

The most critical tool would be self confidence. Secure to express emotions and an ability to let yourself be fearless of judgments. Getting in front of the camera and performing what could be viewed by millions takes a special person. If your performance can affect someone’s view on current political unrest or inspire a young athlete to never give up, then your acting tools are working. These are the tools that make up an actors tool box.

Not all actors start with a full tool box and require some level of coaching. High school drama club is a great start, but does not prepare an actor for a career in film. Film requires a different level of repressed emotion to make the performance more believable. This is just the beginning to what a great acting coach can do for you.

Every tradesman, athlete, and professional requires training. Once trained it is important to continue trading to specialize in your craft. Acting is no different and requires training and continues coaching to achieve the most from an acting career. Continuing education is always good for any field of work. You need to learn from many different instructors and absorb their theory and philosophy of training. Everyone has their own unique method of training. However you take it in and utilize it for your own good is up to you. Knowledge is power, but if you are receiving the wrong knowledge; this can be a destructive matter for you in the long run. Do your research and study with individuals who have the creditability to teach you.

How To Develop Your Talent & Break Into The Acting World

Every time you watch a play or movie, do you think, “I could do that!” or “I’d really love to be up there, too”? It’s one of the oldest dreams to bring characters to life, to mesmerize thousands with your words and body, to be a star.

The problem is many people don’t know how to go about doing this.

The first thing is figure out where your strong points are. Can you sing? How well do you project? What are your character development skills? These questions will answer the question “What facet of acting do I belong in”. Musical theater, straight theater, and film are all options and all have different skill sets.

First we’ll address training, a formal education in performance arts is not necessary, but certain things are expected of all working actors. Like hitting your mark, actors aren’t standing still the whole time, they move and stop. Being able to walk and stop sounds easy, but doing while reciting dialogue and making look natural and not as if you’re looking for it can prove difficult without training. Also the fourth wall, when acting you is in a self contained environment. You won’t be acknowledging the audience or cameras, which can also prove difficult. It may sound daunting. But there are many agencies out there that along with representing talent offer classes and develop talent. There are also workshops offered by universities, high schools, and community education. After you have some training, choose what type of acting you like and excel at.

Some varieties are straight theater, musical theater, improvisational theater, educational film, industrial film, independent film, and big budget to name a few. The pay scales are different for all and so is the level of difficulty in “breaking into” these particular areas of acting.

Now that you have explored the different areas you can find work in, how do you get work? Auditions. Auditions are often listed online and in newspapers. But an agency can find work specific to you. Which can dramatically change the number of jobs you get?

That is the basics of breaking into the world of acting. Break a leg out there!

In The Eyes of a Makeup Artist

Makeup gives everyone the power to transform themselves and try out a new persona.

Not many people are born with natural brown eyeshadow, mascara and lip gloss. Its up to you to decide to what degree you want to enhance or define your own face.

Beauty is one area where a lot of people are insecure. I don’t look at people and think rigid beauty thoughts like “I can’t believe she wore that lipstick with those Gloves!” or “White shadow never looks good with pale lips!” that kind of thinking is born out of rigidity and a desperate need for rules and guidelines. Most of us were taught at a very early age that fitting in should be our number one goal, and not individuality. Watching movies, looking at magazines and checking out people on the streets give me inspiration. Now I will give you some of my favorite ideas, tricks, techniques and thoughts on makeup, all the while encouraging the process of mixing ideas, and activating your own creativity.

  • Concealer can be mixed with creme or liquid eyeshadow, creme blush or lip colors to pale down or dilute the application.
  • Sometimes foundation is enough to cover under eye circles. However, if circles are dark, foundation, because it tends to be transparent, isn’t enough. This is where concealer comes in.
  • To avoid uneven distribution shake off excess powder from the sponge or brush before applying to the face.
  • Dark colors shade and make areas recede..hollows of cheeks, temples, under the chin, sides of nose.
  • Lighter colors highlight and make things come forward..apples of cheeks, under the eye, browbone, middle of chin.
  • Brush your brows up, and then set them in place with clear or colored brow set.
  • Soften and blend the edges of any eyeshadow shape you create with a eyeshadow brush to make it look more natural.
  • Everyone has different eye shapes, research them, and get tips on how to make your eyes stand out and pop.
  • Look at a color wheel for inspiration, using tint, tones, and complimentary colors of your eyes color.
  • Apply eyeliner as close as possible to and even into lashes to avoid the white line you get when liner and lashes don’t connect.
  • Concentrating mascara at the base of the lash root, then sweeping outward and upward, creates a thicker lash look with the ends separated and the base well defined.
  • I prefer to use a lip brush when filling in the mouth, it gives more control than using the tube itself.
  • Putting powder over the top the first coat of lipstick, then reapplying will help it last longer.
  • Using many coats of lipstick/gloss will make your lips look bigger and fuller.

A Career In The Entertainment Industry

Choosing a career in the entertainment industry as an actor or model may be one of the boldest decisions you’ll ever make.

While these careers may seem quite glamorous and exciting to you, the choice may not win you the “Decision-maker of the Year Award.” from your family and friends. “After all,” your parents might say, “You could get a college degree and become an accountant. Better yet, the local post office is hiring.” Now that’s an exciting stable job you can really sink your teeth into.

While they mean well, your family and friends may never have had contact with or even heard of an actor or model actually making it in the industry. They may endeavor to discourage you from pursuing a career that could, in their eyes, prove quite fruitless and a waste of time when you could be earning an hourly wage and bringing home a weekly paycheck.

Listen, if your already on our website, researching our agency, I’m betting that you have already decided to throw caution to the wind, ignore your family and friends who think you’re making a mistake and like NIKE, “Just Do It” anyway.

So here’s the good news, with training in our classes, experience and a well-developed portfolio with an amazing photographer and makeup artist, an actors/models day rate for photo sessions, music videos, film and tv commercials can be quite hefty.

So do you want to live the rest of your life doing a boring, monotonous job, or would you rather be an actor/model and live an exciting, thrilling life?

Value of a Portfolio

The key to that can unlock every model’s hidden door is a great portfolio. The portfolio shows the diversity of a model. Showing clients how the model is the “girl next door”, the sophisticated individual that can showcase elegance, the sports and fitness fanatic, or the hard working blue collar side of you.

The portfolio shows your expressions, attitude, professionalism, and shows the ability to work within a photo shoot. The portfolio photo shoot has three key components the photographer, the make up artist, and the model. The photographer and the make up artist will make the model shine and guarantee the success of the photo shoot.

A great make up artist will make or break a photo shoot. What the make up artist can bring to a model can make all the difference for the model and the photographer. The make up artist defines the difference between average and gorgeous. With the ability to hide flaws or to accent attributes the make up artist creates the character or discovers hidden personality.

The photographer will create the portfolio with their creative and professional experience. The old saying, “pictures can a thousand words” is great for a family picture, but a professional picture will say a million words to perspective clients. The photographer will get the right angles mixed with the right lighting to create masterpiece. This ability is what makes a good model a great model.

If you take a great make up artist add an amazing photographer you portfolio will be amazing. With an amazing portfolio, opportunities will present themselves to the model. This is the ingredients to starting a successful modeling career. You can have all the looks and tools you need, but with out the support and help of others; that’s all you may just become… just a look.

Audition Tips From Tru Talent

  • For Commercials look into the camera as if it was your best friend and Act Natural.
  • For Movie or TV Acting roles- Do NOT look into camera for the audition while you are in character. Remember the camera does not exist but you do send your feelings into the camera. Do look next to the camera unless the casting director tell you to look into the camera for roles such as being a TV Reporter or Announcer (people who always look into the camera in real life) If there is not a camera-use the room and the people in it WHILE YOU ARE IN your character.
  • You do look in the camera to slate. This means to say your name and agency SLATE ONLY IF THEY
  • REQUEST IT
  • Wear camera solid colors – be careful of large prints or patterns
  • Staple a one page well organized resume back to back of your headshot and hand it to the casting director the first thing.
  • Screen Actors Guild rules states that you must be provided with a script – you can take it into the audition with you – however you should know it well enough not to need the script because you have already created a character. Anyone looking down at a script breaks concentration.
  • Keep your script after the audition in case you get a call back.
  • Blend your make-up if you are a female – look natural like your photo
  • Arrive early to sign and to practice sides.
  • Never call the Casting Office of the Production directly- call the agency Memorize your part and FEEL it. Remember the realistic voice inflections and pauses.
  • Create an Entire shoot able Character and STAY in that Character until the casting director says “Cut” or “Thank – you”
  • Make a CHOICE for the character:

What is your character feeling? Happy/Sad? Mixed feeling? Is the emotion hidden? Where did your character come from and where are they going? Who is your character talking to and how does your character feel about that person? How does your character feel about what is happening in the script?

  • React to things that could be happening around you. Make it so real that they can tell what is going on just by your reactions. They are looking for believable characters with believable reactions that make you interesting to watch just like the television viewers are. Remember: You get hired more for your REACTIONS than for your Lines you deliver.
  • If you are a former Stage Actor – be aware of the large over exaggerated external movements that you generally use on stage and internalize the feelings for film.
